It is a nice course that has a few challenges on the way. The food is good and the staff are friendly. I've taken one star because of the driving range being in the middle of hole one and two, so I find myself either being hit by range balls or hurrying my shots to avoid being hit, but that's the way it is. Overall, a good game of golf can be had at little Hay.
This is a low-cost, well maintained Golf Course. Open to everyone and anyone to book, but also membership options are available. Both through the Club and through the management company - the course is also available for booking through 3rd party apps.
What is has:
- 18 Hole Golf Course, Par 72. Limited traps and hazards (no water, but plenty of bunkers), difficult holes a plenty. VERY rarely in bad condition (weather related).
- 9 hole (par 3) and Footgolf
- Driving range - multiple bays (unsure of total number), floodlit. There is also a swing camera in the first two bays (take your shot, scan QR code, see your swing with suggestions) and one of the Pros there (Lee) is excellent.
- Putting/Chipping green
- Longer chipping practice are (not as quality as the putting green, but great for longer chips/flop shots).
- Restaurant and bar
- Vending machines
- Limited equipment purchase (tees, balls, gloves)
- Carts available (4 hours before reception closing)
- Trolleys available.
The course has a decent parkland layout with some great views of the countryside. Reception was friendly and able to keep to the tee time booked.
There was a Marshall, but they only checked we had paid, rather than pairing up single players. The round took 3 hrs 45 mins but felt slow.
The tees and fairways had long grass, so much so there was little roll and at times, even finding your ball on the fairway was challenging. The bunkers had very wet sand, but lots of footprints where players hadn't bothered to rake the sand, albeit the rakes were in every bunker and serviceable.
The greens were incredibly slow and uneven.
For a casual round with friends or family, it probably works. It does represent good value. Probably better condition midweek when greenkeepers have cut the grass. Great pity as it wouldn't take much, but this could be an enjoyable course.
Took my niece to the Pitch & Putt - great course. It is 6 holes so will not take long. They have also got Footgolf, Driving Range, 9/18 hole course. Very good condition, will recommend it
We held my Dads wake in the Par3 venue room.
We cannot fault it at all. Was seamless from start to finish. We booked in person at reception we was welcomed by the lovely Wendy who could not do enough for us.
Heather and her team were amazing and communication was on point every E-mail and question was replied to.
The venue room was clean and tidy and the lovely ladies set it up exactly how we asked.
The food was delicious and there plenty of it.
Would definitely recommend 👍🏻
Thank you to everyone at little hay who made such a difficult day a little easier for us.
Played 18 holes, nice grounds and not too difficult a course providing you can make your balls go straight. Fall off the 18th and into the clubhouse for the all needed refreshments. Plenty of parking on the premises. Was quite a busy on the Sunday. Will be returning, Grate day out.
Interesting game of football golf with my daughter on the little hay pitch and putt course. It is different and she loved playing it, we did 18 holes but I think you could get away with 9 holes to be honest.
Really well looked after golf course, good parking and on the opposite side of the course there is a lovely walk through the woods to quiet a nice meadow and the path can go on towards another woods very quiet out of the way and looks very well kept. Mind the bear 🐻 …
